HMC Specialty Medical Technology “Comparable to the Best in the World”

* HMC’s specialized medical technology leads the region and enables patients to access state-of-the-art care

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) emphasized that its specialized medical technology is leader in the region and is comparable to the best in the world. HMC chief medical officer Dr Abdulla al-Ansari said the organization has invested to ensure the latest technology is available to patients in Qatar.
“HMC has opened 10 state-of-the-art hospitals over the past decade and this expansion has also been accompanied by investment in the latest technology,” said Dr al-Ansari. “This means that patients now have access to some of the best diagnostic tools, new and cutting edge treatments here in Qatar. “
Among these is HMC’s robotic surgery program, which includes technologies such as the DaVinci surgical robot, offering more precise and ergonomic capabilities thanks to the 3D HD magnified vision and its articulated robotic arms fully controlled by the surgeon.
Qatar is one of the pioneers of this surgery in the region, and the team recently performed the country’s very first robotic pancreatic surgery.
“HMC’s surgical facilities are comparable to the best in the world and this is supported by our teams of highly trained specialists who perform complex and successful surgeries,” said Dr al-Ansari.
“Earlier this year, our transplant teams performed the first lung transplant surgery in Qatar and our neurosurgery teams continue to perform complex, life-saving procedures. Being able to perform complicated and difficult surgeries like lung transplantation here in Qatar as well as having facilities in place for first-class follow-up care, demonstrates the high standards of expertise and cutting-edge technology available to our patients. “
Meanwhile, as part of a one-of-a-kind effort for Qatar, a group of researchers from HMC’s Rheumatology and Osteoporosis team – together with the FRAX team at the University of Sheffield in United Kingdom – developed a Fracture Risk Assessment Tool (FRAX Tool), which is expected to improve the management of osteoporosis among the people of Qatar and globally.
The National Center for Cancer Research and Care is home to the region’s first PET scanner, a highly advanced means of detecting and monitoring cancers, in order to improve patient outcomes. NCCCR is the only place in Qatar dedicated to cancer treatment, as it provides the latest international technology in radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other treatment programs.
Providing an essential service, HMC’s internationally accredited Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, which is the country’s central laboratory, is home to some of the most advanced and rapid diagnostic facilities and tools in the region. This ensures that patients have access to their results as quickly as possible.
In 2020, HMC’s Ophthalmology Department opened the Laser Vision Correction Unit at the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC). The unit offers vision correction surgeries using three different technologies, namely: Laser, Lasik and Femto-SMILE technologies. Femto-SMILE is considered the most advanced technology in this field and is only available in the most advanced ophthalmology centers around the world.
“Our hospitals, ambulance services, surgical facilities, cancer treatment services and diagnostic services, to name a few, are all equipped with cutting-edge technology comparable to the best healthcare providers. world health care, ”added Dr al-Ansari. .
