MARC contributes to breast cancer awareness

MANCHESTER, CT — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. MARC, Inc. of Manchester will be an active advocate for breast cancer prevention awareness this month among its staff and the community it serves.

On Tuesday, October 11, MARC, Inc. will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Day for all who attend MARC Day Services.

The concept for the day comes from Jodie Arel, a staff member at MARC, Inc., who explains why she is so passionate about this cause.

“My grandma had stage 4 breast cancer, she’s been through a lot. She fought breast cancer for 6 years and survived. I want everyone to be aware of what your body is doing to them. you know your body best,” she said.

The day will begin with a BCA information table from 8-9 a.m. in the lobby where Jodie will hand out pink ribbons and hand out prevention information. There will also be a pink fashion show at the MARC buildings at 1:45 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear pink clothes to show support for all those fighting breast cancer, those who have survived and those we have lost.
