New helicopter service to link Bangalore to Coorg, Kabini

The service aims to reduce the travel time between the two cities from the state capital, which currently takes around 6 to 7 hours by road.

The Indian branch of the US helicopter transport company BLADE has started regular services at headquarters on the Bengaluru-Coorg and Bengaluru-Kabini routes in Karnataka. With the launch of services on both routes, travel time between the two cities from the state capital will be reduced from 6 to 7 hours by road now, the company said in a statement. Fees for one-way trips to either of these destinations will start from Rs 16,000, the company said.

BLADE India said it aims to connect the country’s congested and inaccessible surface roads with an efficient air transport system and deliver a full holistic experience through its baggage and ground transfers and partner benefits.

BLADE first entered the state in December 2020 with its private weekend charter services.

Amit Dutta, MD, BLADE India, said Karnataka boasts some of the country’s most beautiful destinations, however accessibility is an issue. A 6-7 hour drive from Bangalore takes away precious time travelers might otherwise spend enjoying their vacation. BLADE eases this pain with a continuous one hour experience.

BLADE India said it has partnered with Evolve Back Resorts to enable customers to book their flights and stay immediately; land at the property directly within an hour and be more accessible.

“We are delighted to partner with BLADE India as they offer helicopter transfers from Bangalore to our Coorg and Kabini resorts,” said Thomas Emmanuel Ramapuram, Sales Manager at Evolve Back Resorts.

This will give a huge boost to luxury travel to Karnataka and transform the leisure tourism industry in the months to come, he added.

BLADE India, a joint venture between BLADE Urban Air Mobility Inc, headquartered in New York, and New Delhi-based venture capital firm Hunch Ventures, started operations in Maharashtra in 2019.
