“I am honored to be part of the Pies for Prevention program again through Sharsheret, a wonderful non-profit organization that supports young women and their families with breast and ovarian cancer,” said said Dr Ilana Ressler, reproductive endocrinologist with RMA. of Connecticut.

For the sixth year in a row, a local resident of New Rochelle and a reproductive endocrinologist certified by the Board of Directors of Connecticut RMADr. Ilana Ressler will lead Pies for Prevention, a charity program to promote ovarian cancer awareness. All proceeds from the sale of the pies will be donated to Sharsheret, the non-profit organization that supports young women, men and their families dealing with breast and ovarian cancer.

This year marks Sharsheret’s 13th annual Thanksgiving Bake Sale, where pies are baked in the community just before Thanksgiving and then distributed to those who purchased them just in time for the holidays. Pies for Prevention is a program started in 2008 by two sisters, Adeena Sussman and Sharon Wieder, who lost their mother and grandmother to ovarian cancer. To honor the memory of the two women, the sisters decided to commemorate their mother and grandmother’s love for baking while raising funds for a good cause.

Dr Ressler, who oversees RMA from the new Harrison Connecticut office, started the program in Westchester six years ago, after being pushed to get involved as she continued to meet women facing breast cancer and ovary as part of his work as a reproductive endocrinologist at RMA. of Connecticut.

“I am honored to be part of the Pies for Prevention program again through Sharsheret, a wonderful non-profit organization that supports young women and their families with breast and ovarian cancer,” said said Dr Ilana Ressler, reproductive endocrinologist with RMA. of Connecticut. “We love making our delicious homemade pies while promoting a good cause. While we have strict COVID-19 protocols in place, we encourage anyone who does not wish to receive baked goods this year to donate to Sharsheret to support this fantastic organization. “

Homemade pies cost $ 25 and are available to order directly from the Sharsheret website. Available flavors include pumpkin, pecan, and their best-selling chocolate chip cookie dough pie, as well as pumpkin and cranberry bread. Gluten-free peanut butter blondies are also available. All ingredients are Kosher and Pareve certified. The deadline to order the pies is November 17, 2021.
